Description:
A beautiful, large size very fine or much better Banknote from Mexico. This is the October 20, 1914 issue known as Gobierno Provisional De Mexico five pesos Revalidado (revalidated) paper currency. This is the series "B" 5 pesos. The banknote depicts Liberty seated at left in black and white with shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The shield has the date 1914. The center has a black and white eagle with spread wings and having a snake in its beak all over a light blue underprint on the front, this represents the arms of Mexico. The front and back are green in color with the back having a central image of a one peso coin having Liberty's bonnet in its center. The back also displays the denomination in the four corners. The note has the words "REVALIDADO por decreto de 17 de dicimbre da 1914" stamped on the front in red. this banknote was issued on October 20, 1914, according to the September 19, 1914 decree, and was revalidated on December 17, 1914. The note also has two red seals on the back, one round and the other being oval in shape. This note is pick number S702b. This particular note has the serial number 3050045 on the front twice in red and does not display the serial number on the back. It is a series B issue and has two signatures on the front. It has no water mark that we could find. The paper of the note retains quite a bit of its original crispiness. The colors are fresh and vivid. Condition:
I would grade this banknote as a very fine or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note shows light circulation with a central vertical fold that is a bit soiled on the reverse. The note has no appreciable creasing or wrinkling. The paper is not excessively dirty, but shows some smudging or staining with red ink which possible is the result of staking banknotes at the printing plant before the red imprints had the time to dry. The corners have some minor rounding but no bumps. The note retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and crispiness. The edges are intact with no obvious roughness, no tears or nicks in the border area. The colors of the note are bright, clear and without fading. The note has no graffiti, no tears, no splits, no pinholes and no large objectionable stains. Nice note to add to your collection, which verges on being extremely fine if not for the soiled vertical fold on the back. Please carefully view the scans for additional condition information.
