A smoothing plane beautifully made with precision fit and finish.
Smoothing planes are appropriately named because they are ideal for preparing wood for final finishing.
The Grizzly H7569 10" Smoothing Plane measures 10" long and was designed with a perfectly flat sole that will smooth any wood surface.
Capable of producing a finish that equals or surpasses that left by sandpaper, the ground serrated sole improves the sliding action by reducing resistance.
As one of the most commonly used bench planes, the H7569 is a good starter plane for those new to woodworking.
The slightly greater heft of the cast-iron base compared to other metals helps keep the cut smooth.
The chip breaker helps ''break'' and curl the shavings to minimize tear out ahead of the cutting edge. It also supports the blade to reduce chatter.
The H7569 is heavy enough to produce a smooth cut but not so heavy that it is tiring to use.
The H7569 will also work well for trimming parts.
Features include hardwood handles and knobs, full plane iron adjustments, frog and lever caps, chip breakers, and knurled brass adjusting nuts.
