HEAVY GAUGE VICIOUS DOUBLE WRAP BARB on SINGLE ROUND LINE - ANTIQUE BARBED WIRE

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features an unknown patentee and maker. This wire is called "Heavy Gauge Vicious Double Wrap Barb on Single Round Line", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 19-G). This wire features a single nine gauge round line wire. Barbs are two pointed made from the same wire as the line wire. Barbs are wrapped twice around the line in a somewhat open spiral. These barbs were probably hand applied to a standing fence, no tool patent has been located. This sample is 18-1/4" in length and has two barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light to moderate pitting. There are no bent, missing, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors.
