Shop Fox D2673 Smoothing Plane
A great starter plane for those new to woodworking.
Smoothing planes are short, wide, and ideal for preparing the wood for final finishing – hence the name.
The Shop Fox D2673 Smoothing Plane measures 9-3/4" long was designed for taking away small amounts of material where tearout is possible.
A smoothing plane is also helpful when trimming troublesome areas that have changes in grain direction or height.
Often the last hand planes used on a wood surface, they are capable of producing a finish that equals or surpasses that left by sandpaper.
It's also a great general-purpose plane for other uses such as planing doors and window sashes.
The D2673 Smoothing Plane will also work well for trimming parts.
The chip breaker helps ''break'' and curl the shavings to minimize tear out ahead of the cutting edge. It also supports the blade to reduce chatter.
Like all Shop Fox planes, the D2673 comes with a 1-year warranty which covers parts and assures the unit is free from factory defects.
